Have you ever wanted to build or repair your own fishing rod, but don't know where to start?

Custom rod building is an art, a craft limited only by your own imagination. It is not a hard craft to learn, but one that is ever changing with new ideas, new materials and new techniques. It is fun and a very rewarding endeavor.

Build better fishing rods and have more fun doing it!  In the craft of custom rod building, no one is an 'expert'.  Some builders have more experience than others but they are constantly learning.

Rick's Custom Fishing Rods is offering a "Rod Building" class for beginner rod builders.  The course will be instructional in nature. An instructor will show you all the basic procedures in custom rod building. Classes are designed for people who have little to no experience building fishing rods.

Class size will be limited to four students to insure plenty of personal attention

 
Learn all of the the proper procedures for building a custom rod. Some of the techniques you will learn include:
  * Selecting the right blank and components * Guide placement
  * Guide feet preparation * Attaching tops
  * Thread wrapping * Setting the spline
  * Attaching reel seats * Cork reaming
  * Applying finish * and much more
 
     
  No question goes unanswered, and you will be equipped with the information and advice needed to start building quality fishing rods. Once you learn the basics you should have a better idea how to repair your own rods as well.
 
 

Classes will be set up on two evenings from 6PM to 9PM Classes would include training material, and personal instruction. Locations may vary. You will be advised of class location at the time of registration. (Most classes will be in Hamilton, NJ)

Dates and location for classes will be flexible and determined by a participant or participants.
